Wayan Suartana

"I'm Balinese and my name is Wayan Suartana. Together with my family and friends, I develop home décor objects crafted of terracotta. We work on the island of Lombok.

"Each piece is created completely by hand. We select the clay, shape the piece into the desired form and fire it in traditional way. These processes make it impossible for any two pieces to have exactly the same size, shape and even color. For example, overheating during the firing process results in a much darker color.

"Most of my designs are vases, bowls, trays and many other kinds of vessels to bring a natural touch to interiors. Marketing has always been my greatest challenge so we are happy to join Novica's global showcase."
